Financial education

Bank Your Future teaches financial literacy to 13-17 year olds across Ireland.  Through workshops and third level institution visits, business volunteers teach students how to manage their financial lives wisely.  The project started in Dublin, Leitrim, Cork, and Sligo, expanding into Limerick in 2008 and Waterford in 2009.

Many of the schools are in areas of economic and social disadvantage where students would be under-represented in third level education. The programme begins with a six week classroom-based educational programme where students learn the importance of education; family budgeting; using credit and insurance wisely and they examine careers to suit their interests and skills.  They then visit a third level institution to learn about the world of further education, campus life and take part in extended financial workshops lead by volunteers.
