About MBNA:
Community
The Music Factory
The Music Factory introduces local children to music and performance with a five-day adventure of music, movement and story-telling, helping children to develop their creative and inventive skills. Every summer, five days of workshops are held for fifty children between 8 – 12 years old. Drumming, dance, singing, song writing, drama, visual art and instrumental improvisation are led by professional artists and musicians and supported by MBNA volunteers.
Children from all backgrounds are welcome, with 25 free places provided through MBNA’s financial support to children from disadvantaged areas. Throughout the week children develop friendships with others who share their enjoyment of music and art, and in doing so break down social barriers and grow in confidence.
Leitrim Talking Newspaper
For the last eight years, associates from Carrick-on-Shannon have partnered with Leitrim Talking Newspaper to read and record Leitrim newspapers for the benefit of the visually impaired. When the charitable organisation needed a home for its new digital, mp3 recording equipment, space was provided for a recording studio within MBNA offices.
Leitrim Talking Newspaper supports the visually impaired throughout County Leitrim by providing pre-recorded articles from the local newspaper enabling recipients to keep up-to-date with community news.
Adopt a Road
Looking after our environment is a point of pride for our associates and the communities in which we operate. That’s why several times each year, teams of associates tidy the roads around the MBNA facility as part of County Leitrim’s Adopt a Road programme. Armed with high visibility jackets, litter pickers, gloves and bags, associates work to ensure the roads remain litter free.
Volunteering
Our associates have always been heavily involved in volunteering activity. In 2009, our associates gave nearly 10,000 volunteer hours to the community by supporting local organisations. Our volunteer programme enables associates to further their professional skills and personal interests while working together to improve the communities around us. Working together, our associates and organisations in our community can make a powerful difference in our communities.
